Samsung Reveals When Your Galaxy Will Get Android 16

Samsung has officially flipped the switch on One UI 8, the company’s latest software experience built on Android 16. The first phones to taste the update are, unsurprisingly, the brand-new Galaxy S25 lineup. But the good news doesn’t stop there—Samsung has also published a detailed rollout schedule, so owners of older devices now know when to expect their turn.

Leaks had hinted that the Android 16 update would drop around September 18, and Samsung’s confirmation makes that timeline all but certain. While the update started rolling out yesterday in South Korea, other regions won’t have to wait long. Most international markets should start seeing the update hit devices before the end of the week.

What’s inside One UI 8? According to Samsung, quite a lot. The update introduces fresh design tweaks, new AI-powered features, and deeper personalization options. Highlights include enhanced multimodal AI tools, smarter performance optimization, and upgrades to Now Bar and Now Brief, making your Galaxy phone feel more adaptive and intelligent than ever.

Samsung Galaxy Android 16 (One UI 8) Release Timeline

Last week, a leaked roadmap of Samsung’s Android 16 rollout made the rounds on Twitter, but it turns out the company moved even faster for its flagship lineup. The Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra received the update ahead of schedule—though only in select markets. Now, Samsung’s Brazil division has stepped in to give us something more concrete: an official release schedule that covers not just the S25 family, but also the Galaxy S24 and S23 lines, Galaxy Z Fold and Flip models, tablets, and mid-range A-series devices.

It’s worth noting that these dates apply specifically to Brazilian variants, so rollout timings in other regions—including the U.S.—may differ. Still, Samsung usually follows a similar “newest first” approach worldwide, so this timeline is a solid guide for what to expect.
