Even before the release of the Ryzen Threadripper 3000 series processors, there was information about AMD’s intention to release two HEDT-platforms at once: sTRX4 and sWRX8. The official debut of the first one took place in November 2019, and nothing was heard about the second one until today.
Now Chinese enthusiasts managed to get a photo of the first CPU from its composition – Ryzen Threadripper Pro 3995WX.
In terms of performance AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro processors will be something in between the current Ryzen Threadripper 3000 and server EPYC on Zen 2 architecture. The former will inherit quite high frequencies, and the latter will inherit a full IOD chip with 96-128 lines of PCI Express 4.0 and 8-channel memory controller DDR4-3200 with support for up to 2 Tbytes of RAM. The current Ryzen Threadripper is known to be satisfied with a four-channel DDR4 and 64 lines of PCI-E 4.0.
